We acknowledge the traditional owners and custodians of the land on which we stand and their living culture. We pay our respects to them for their care of the land and pay tribute to the unique role they play in the life of this region. May we walk gently and respectfully upon the land.

Matthew 11: 16 – 19

Jesus said, “How can I account for this generation? The people have been like spoiled children whining to their parents. ‘We wanted to skip rope, and you were always too tired; we wanted to talk, but you were always too busy.’ John came fasting and they called him crazy. I came feasting and they called me a lush, a friend of the riffraff. Opinion polls don’t count for much, do they? The proof of the pudding is in the eating.”

Primary Daily Prayer

In today’s Gospel, Jesus talks about people who wouldn’t join in, no matter what. Sometimes we can be like that too, closing our hearts to what God is showing us. Today, try saying “yes” to one small invitation from God: helping someone, including others, or choosing kindness. When we join in with God’s love, we make the world brighter.

Jesus, help us say “yes” to your love today by lifting someone up with kindness. Amen.

Good God, when everyone’s judging and nobody’s really listening, help us stay real. Teach us to look deeper, choose kindness, and follow what’s true, not just what’s popular. Guide us to bring your goodness into our world today. Amen.
