The Gospel

John 9: 13 – 15

They marched the man to the Pharisees. This day when Jesus made the paste and healed his blindness was the Sabbath. The Pharisees grilled him again on how he had come to see. He said, “He put a clay paste on my eyes, and I washed, and now I see.”

… On the way to Mass

How would you react if Jesus did a miracle for you?

On the way home from Mass …

After his healing, the man born blind expresses his faith in Jesus and worships him. What is your reaction when you notice God’s action in your life? What might we learn from the man born blind’s response?

The Prayer

Jesus, sometimes we do not see people the way you do. We miss opportunities when someone is lonely, hurting, or needs a friend. Open our eyes like you opened the eyes of the man born blind. Help us really see the people around us. Give us the courage to include someone, help someone, and choose kindness wherever we go. Amen.

The Question of the Week

Staff/Parents
What are you doing in your life right now to move toward light rather than darkness?

Secondary Students
Have you ever stubbornly refused to follow advice, even though down deep you knew you needed to?

Primary Students
How might you let the light of your faith in Jesus shine for others to see?

The Action

How do you respond when God helps or blesses you? This week, work hard to notice the gifts Jesus gives you. When you get to eat a meal, remember the response of the blind man in today’s story. When you run through a field playing sport with a friend, feel a cool, gentle breeze, or hear beautiful music, see if you can respond with worship like this man. All week, practice worshipping (giving praise, adoration, thanks) God in response to the gifts in your life.
