We acknowledge the traditional owners and custodians of the land on which we stand and their living culture. We pay our respects to them for their care of the land and pay tribute to the unique role they play in the life of this region. May we walk gently and respectfully upon the land.

Matthew 20: 26 – 28

Jesus continued, “Whoever wants to be great must become a servant. Whoever wants to be first among you must be your slave. That is what the Son of Man has done. He came to serve, not to be served – and then to give away his life in exchange for the many who are held hostage.”

Primary Daily Prayer

One day, Maya’s teacher asked everyone to think about how they could use their talents to serve others. Maya knew what her talent was – reading. She read all sorts of books – anything she could get her hands on. But how could she use that to serve anyone? That afternoon at the library, Maya’s mum showed her a flyer about reading to seniors in a retirement village. Now Maya knew how she could use her talents. How about you? How is Jesus asking you to use your talents to serve others?

Jesus, show us how we can serve others as you serve. Amen.

Creator God, we thank you for the creative skills of all human beings, made as we are in your image and likeness. Inspire us to use our skills for the benefit of all our sisters and brothers – working not in competition with others but as “fellow-travellers” who share the same journey. Amen.
