Prayer of the Day

Tuesday 5 May 2026

1821
Napoleon Bonaparte died in exile on St. Helena.

We pause to recognise the First Peoples of this land, whose story and spirit continue to shape this place. We honour their deep relationship with Country and the wisdom passed down through the generations. As we share this land today, may we act with gratitude, humility and respect.

Call to Prayer

Alleluia Lord! Praise You!
With all of our hearts,
we come to hear the Word of the Lord.
Sing Alleluia Lord!

Scripture

John 14: 26 – 27

Jesus said, “This is my parting gift to you. Peace. I don’t leave you the way you’re used to being left – feeling abandoned, bereft. So don’t be upset. Don’t be distraught.”

Primary Daily Prayer

The peace that Jesus talks about here is much more than a restful, quiet feeling. It’s the peace deep in your being that can calm fears, soothe hurts and remove troubles. This kind of peace doesn’t come from anything people do or say. It can only come from God. Sure, you might have troubles and problems in your lifetime that will make you feel unpeaceful for a while. But when you have Christ’s peace, you can get through these difficult times. Jesus didn’t just give this peace to his disciples. We receive this peace when we receive Jesus himself – in the Eucharist, in Reconciliation, Confirmation and all of the other sacraments he has given us.

Jesus, fill us with your peace.

Secondary Daily Prayer

God of peace, send your Spirit to guide us, remind us of what is right, and help us make wise choices in the middle of everything life throws at us. When stress builds up, when friendships are messy, or when we feel unsure, calm our hearts with your peace that stays steady no matter what is happening. Help us carry that peace into our school, our friendships and our world. Amen.

Staff Daily Prayer

God among us, you send your Spirit to guide, remind, and strengthen us each day in all we do. In the busy, complex, and rewarding work of supporting young people, fill us with your calm presence and steady peace. Help us respond with patience, lead with compassion, and see each student as you see them. When the load feels heavy, keep us grounded in your peace that stays with us and carries us through. Amen.
