(Luke 6: 22 – 23)

“Count yourself blessed every time someone cuts you down or throws you out, every time someone smears or blackens your name to discredit me. What it means is that the truth is too close for comfort and that that person is uncomfortable. You can be glad when that happens – skip like a lamb, if you like – for even though they don’t like it, I do … and all heaven applauds. And know that you are in good company; my preachers and witnesses have already been treated like this”.

Primary Daily Prayer

Following Jesus does not mean our lives will be perfect, but it can make us blessed. Sure, we will all face sad and difficult times. But when we know how much God loves us, when we know how powerful God is and how much God wants us to be present in God’s kingdom of eternal peace and joy, we know that we are blessed. We know that God’s strength, goodness and grace – God’s very life – are with us even during our worst struggles. We are blessed.

Ever-present God, bless me with your help whenever I am struggling. Amen.

Secondary Daily Prayer

God, our hope, not everyone will be welcome at every lunch table. Some people are not a welcome addition when we get together after school, and our weekends have a very secret guest list. Maybe we’ll need to make some changes before this day is acceptable to you. Amen.

Staff Daily Prayer

Good morning God, thank you for the invitations to live faithfully today, walking in your paths, loving my neighbour. The day is new, unmarred by missteps or words misspoken, so I pause in the newness to remember your commandments and to delight in them. Help me to follow you all through this day. Keep my feet from stumbling or wandering down other trails so that I honour you and others in word and deed. In Christ I pray. Amen.
