Prayer of the Day

Egypt’s President Nasser nationalises the Suez Canal.
We acknowledge the traditional owners and custodians of the land on which we stand and their living culture. We pay our respects to them for their care of the land and pay tribute to the unique role they play in the life of this region. May we walk gently and respectfully upon the land.
May God’s Word be in my thoughts,
May God’s Word be on our lips,
May God’s Word ever and always be in my heart.
This is my prayer. This is my prayer.
That the Word of God defines my life.
This is my prayer.

Jesus continued, “God’s kingdom is like a treasure hidden in a field for years and then accidently found by a trespasser. The finder is ecstatic – what a find! – and proceeds to sell everything he owns to raise money and buy that field. Or, God’s kingdom is like a jewel merchant on the hunt for excellent pearls. Finding one that is flawless, he immediately sells everything and buys it”.
Moses did not know that the skin of his face had become radiant white while he conversed with the Lord. (Exodus 34: 29) Imagine it’s a hot summer day, and there’s nothing to do. Then one of your friends calls and invites you to go swimming. The news makes your face light up! That’s sort of like what happened to Moses. He spoke with the Lord and then came down from the mountain. He was so happy that his face was shining.
When good things happen to you, others can see it on your face. That radiance is a reminder of God’s love.
Loving God, thank you for making us radiant with you! Amen.

God living among us, keep in me a sense of humour and the ability to laugh at myself. Lead me always to be positive, looking for the best in people and in situations. Each day and in every way may I grow in the love of the Creator and the presence of the Son, and the power of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Hear the good news: God forgives us again and again. We have second chances and third chances and fourth chances to keep trying to get it right – and to live up to our good intentions. Even though we sometimes fail God, God never fails us; God always keeps God’s promises to be ever faithful. Thanks be to God. Amen.

Now go, now go …
Go out and tell the world, let every nation hear my voice.
Now go, now go …
Go out and live my Word, let every nation know my love.
Now go, now go.
