Jesus said to the woman, “Everyone who drinks this water will get thirsty again and again. Anyone who drinks the water I give will never thirst – not ever.”
In a school context, that hits home.
We know about thirst. The thirst for results. For affirmation. For behaviour to improve. For inbox zero. For just one smoother week. We chase quick fixes and short wins, but by Friday we are thirsty all over again.
At the well, Jesus names a deeper thirst. Not for success or control, but for meaning, connection and grace. The woman arrives carrying her story, her mistakes and her isolation. She leaves seen, known and sent.
That is the shift.
This third week of Lent is a call to stop running on empty. To notice what is really driving us. To let Christ meet us in the middle of the staffroom, the classroom and the chaos. To draw from a source that does not dry up.
So here is the challenge.
Pause before you react.
Choose dignity over judgement.
Speak life into a student who expects criticism.
Let your presence be steady and intentional.
Living water is not abstract. It flows through everyday encounters. This week, draw deeply. Then be brave enough to offer that same life-giving presence to the young people in your care.
