We acknowledge the traditional owners and custodians of the land on which we stand and their living culture. We pay our respects to them for their care of the land and pay tribute to the unique role they play in the life of this region. May we walk gently and respectfully upon the land.

Call to Prayer

Here in this time, here in this place, here we are standing face to face.
Here in our hearts, here in our lives, our God is here.
Here for the broken, here for the strong, here in this temple we belong.
Here in our hearts, here in our lives, our God is here. And we cry:

“Holy! Holy! Holy are you!” We cry: “Holy! Holy! Holy and true!”
Amen, we do believe our God is here. Our God is here.

Scripture

Luke 12: 37

Jesus continued, “Keep your shirts on; keep the lights on! Be like house servants waiting for their master to come back from his honeymoon, awake and ready to open the door when he arrives and knocks. Lucky the servants whom the master finds on watch!”

Primary Daily Prayer

Blessed are those servants whom the master finds vigilant on arrival. (Luke 12: 37) When Abby’s soccer coach said she was vigilant, Abby wasn’t sure if that was good or bad. She looked it up and learned that vigilant means staying alert and keeping your eyes open. Abby is a goalie, so she needs to keep her eyes on the game. What do you think Jesus means about keeping vigilant? Is he talking about keeping our eyes open to the needs of others? Staying alert to the ways that temptations can creep into our hearts? Paying attention to the ways God speaks to us? Maybe it’s all of those things. How will you stay vigilant in your life?

Dear God, help us keep our eyes wide open to your love. Amen.

Secondary Daily Prayer

Jesus, you promise blessing to those who stay ready. Wake us up from being lazy in faith. Help us be alert, switched on, and ready to serve in the everyday. Make our lives a “yes” to your call. Amen.

Staff Daily Prayer

God of the Everyday, you bless those who stay awake and ready. Keep us alert to the needs of others. Help us serve with patience, teach with hope, serve with love, and be faithful to the little things that shape young lives. Amen.
